Karnataka Budget 2010-11: Highlights
Bangalore, Mar 5: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa presented the state budget 2010-11 in the assembly on Friday, Mar 5.

The following are the highlights of the budget:

  • 1000 new Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) to be opened under Public Private Pratnership (PPP )in rural areas.
  • Sanskrit University in Bangalore
  • Rs 25 cr for improving roads in Coorg
  • Rs 425 cr to develop new areas under BBMP
  • Rs 250 cr for widening of all state highways
  • 4 lane highway between Hubli - Dharwad at the cost of Rs 50 cr
  • Better drainage system promised for Bangalore
  • 1 per cent Hike in VAT from the next Financial year
  • Rs 2 cr allotted for Solar Lamp subsidy
  • Industrial Export center at Mysore
  • Rs 3000 cr for development of roads and flyovers in Bangalore
  • 13 pc Tax on vehicles priced above 5 Lakhs
  • 15 pc Tax on Tobacco products
  • Rs 15,440 crores for Steel Zone in Bellary
  • Toll of Rs 500 on heavy goods vehicles entering the state
  • Life time tax on two wheelers raised from 8 per cent to 10 per cent

Karnataka hope to sign MOU with Chattisgarh: CM

Bangalore, Jul 20: Karnataka, which is facing an acute power crisis following insufficient monsoon rains, has shown keen interest to sign a power purchase agreement with the power-surplus State Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa said. Talking to newspersons after participating at the 'Founding Day' celebration of the State-owned Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL) here, he said the State would seek 500 MW of power from Chhattisgarh. Mr Yeddyurappa said initial talks were in progress and a formal agreement would be inked.....
