Chennai, Mar 1: While strong protests against the UPA government on every issue available looks like the opposition's attempt to pull down the government, BJP said on Monday, Mar 1 that it has no intention to do so.
"We do not want this government, which is a few months old, to fall; that is not our intention. We want to make Congress realise the sufferings of poor people on the price rise issue and the fuel price hike which could further spur prices of essential commodities," party's senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu told reporters.
Naidu denied instigating the DMK and Trinamool Congress against demanding a roll back of fuel price hike, saying that the "learned leaders" of these two parties knew "what to do and when to do."
He has demanded a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the foodgrains' export and import, alleging that there is 'massive corruption' in the entire process.
He added that as part of their protest against price rise, BJP was launching signature campaign on Mar 2 and "Chalo Parliament" on Apr 21.
Reiterating Naidu's statement, senior BJP leader and former finance minister Yashwant Sinha said that his party members would oppose the 'inflationary budget' when it is laid down to vote and would move cut motions.
Expressing his view on Telengana issue, Naidu said that appointment of the Justice Sri Krishna Commission 'will serve no purpose' as the ultimate decision lies in the hands of the Center.
Naidu said that the foreign-secretary level talks between India and Pakistan was 'futile exercise' as Pakistan was not serious about it.
