Higher health allocation, focus on rural health

Budget 2010: Govt spends more on health
New Delhi, Feb 26: The Union Budget 2010, which allocated a higher Rs 22,300 crore to the area of health, also focused specifically on the rural heath.

"I propose to increase the plan allocation for the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare from Rs 19,534 crore to Rs 22,300 crore for 2010-11," said Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee
on Friday, Feb 26 while presenting the budget.

An annual health survey, which would be carried out to prepare the district health profile of the rural populace was also announced.

"The findings of the survey should be of immense benefit to major public health initiatives, particularly the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), which has successfully addressed the gaps in the delivery of critical health services in rural areas," Mukherjee said.

NRHM was launched by UPA government in 2005 with an aim to improve availability and access to quality healthcare for people living in remote areas.

Union budget on Feb 26: Pranab

New Delhi, Jan 10: Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has announced that the government will present its annual Budget on Feb 26.Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Jan 9, Mukherjee said that government was aiming at enacting legislation in the second half of 2010 for introducing a new Goods and Services Tax (GST).Mukherjee said he is hopeful growth rate could touch 8 percent in the fiscal year to Mar 2010, faster than 6.7 percent in 2009."With faster growth.....

any tax holiday for smaller existing rural hospitals?( hope tax holidays are not only meant for appollos in larger cities)
