Kasprowicz emerging as frontrunner for England bowling coach role

London, Feb 23(ANI): Former Australian fast bowler Michael Kasprowicz has reportedly put his hand up to be England's next bowling coach, and is emerging as a frontrunner for the job.

Kasprowicz and fellow quickie Jason Gillespie have been linked with the position after the resignation of former West Indian all-rounder Ottis Gibson.

England team director Andy Flower believes that Kasprowicz has the knowledge, capacity for hard work and likeable personality to make him the ideal replacement for Gibson, even though he has limited coaching experience, The Sun reports.

An intimate knowledge of Australian pitches and conditions ahead of next summer's Ashes are being considered as the 38-year-old's strongest card.

Gibson was the bowling coach of the English cricket team for over a year, and left the position after being appointed as the coach of the West Indian side.

Other names thrown up for the job so far include former South African quick Allan Donald, who had the job in an interim capacity in 2007 before turning it down because of other commitments, and compatriot Shaun Pollock.

English possibilities include Angus Fraser and Darren Gough. Geoff Lawson, the former Pakistan coach, is also interested.

Flower is expected to immediately discuss the appointment of Gibson's replacement with England and Wales Cricket Board managing director Hugh Morris. (ANI)
