London, Feb 23(ANI): England cricketer Craig Kieswetter, who is a specialist wicketkeeper, is hoping to bring in a different dynamics to his talent during the three-game ODI series against Bangladesh.
Kieswetter said he is looking forward to donning a hard-hitting aggressive role, and later use his javelin throwing abilities while fielding.
"I've been given a chance at the top of the order, but Matt Prior is keeping wicket and I'll be fielding. I used to throw the javelin back at school so my arm's not too bad. I think my record was 58 metres," The Mirror quoted Kieswetter, as saying.
"Hopefully my fielding will be up to scratch and I'll just have to get the hands hardened up for catching," he added.
The 22-year-old further said it is former England opening batsman Marcus Trescothick and not former world record holder for javelin throwing Steve Backley that he is aiming to emulate during the series.
"Tres had his era when he was England's ferocious batter at the top and now I see this as my opportunity and I can find out some bits and bobs from him along the way," Kieswetter said.
"Tres hits the ball pretty hard, I can tell you that. He is keen on keeping things simple and trying not to complicate it too much. He says you should always back your ability and try to take the attack to the bowler to put the pressure back on them," he added. (ANI)
