9 feared dead in Bangalore Carlton Towers fire

Bangalore, Feb 23: A massive fire broke out at the multi-storey Carlton Towers in Bangalore's busy Old Airport Road killing as many as nine people and trapping scores inside the office building.

The fire, which started in the third floor of the building is making its way upwards putting more and more lives at risk even as rescue personnel pour in.

As per the latest inputs state home minister VS Acharya has said that the fire could have claimed as many as five lives. Earlier, the death toll was put at three.

Initially there were six fire tenders rushed to the spot. However, now as many as 16 tenders have been pressed to action. People in the lower levels of the building have been evacuated.

The fire fighting operations is at the last stage.

Police say that short circuit could have caused the fire.News and information on the mishap has set the internet buzzing as Twitter carries an updated piece of information almost every second.

B'lore: Carlton Towers sealed; owners booked
