London, Feb 19: Dumping her boyfriend turned fatal for a woman of Indian-origin, as she was stabbed 20 times by her ex-boyfriend who could not take the end of their relationship lightly.
State prosecutor Simon Denison informed the court that Camille Mathurasingh, 27, was stabbed 20 times in her kitchen in her Bow residence in Apr 2009 by her former boyfriend, Paul Bristol, 24, who flew down from Trinidad trying to rekindle their relationship.
The Prosecutor told the court that Mathurasingh, who was working as a chartered chartered accountant for Deloitte at their Liverpool Street office here at the time of being murdered, was a previous employee of Pricewaterhouse Coopers in Trinidad.
Both Mathurasingh and Bristol met in Trinadad and continued their relationship even after she came to Britain in summer 2008, Denison added.
"E-mails up to the beginning of 2009 showed their affection to each other and they spoke of a future together," said Denison.
However, the victim reportedly decided to put an end to their affair, citing an uncertain future about their long distance relationship.
"She met a man here and started going out with him. It would appear she tried to bring about the end of the relationship with Bristol gently and didn"t tell him about her new boyfriend. He found out when he saw pictures of them together on Facebook," he told the court.
Unable to reconcile to the fact that he has been dumped, Bristol flies down to London to try to win her back.
Mathurasingh complained to her family about being harassed by Bristol, adding that she was displeased about him coming down to Britain.
"The day after he landed he went to her home. Only he can say what happened... and what led him to kill," Denison said.
"He did so in a frenzied attack with a knife, stabbing her 20 times in the neck, chest, back hip and leg, and she died on the floor of the kitchen. He stabbed himself too then got in her car and drove off dangerously along Mile End Road," the court was told.
The incident came to light when Bristol, who was taken to the hospital after his car crashed , confessed to police.
The Police later found the body, the court was told.
While Bristol admitted to manslaughter, he denied murder.
