Mumbai-Goa highway accident kills 12
Mumbai, Feb 19: In a head-on collision between truck and a Tata Sumo, at least 12 people were killed and two were critically injured.

The accident took place near Nagothane, about 100 km from here, in the early hours of Friday, Feb 19.

“Around 2.30 am, the Sumo crashed headlong into a truck speeding from the opposite direction. Eleven people were killed on the spot, and one succumbed on the way to the hospital. Another two were seriously injured," a police official informed.

All the people who died in the accident were traveling in the Sumo. The group of 14 were reportedly on their way to a wedding in Khed Taluka of Ratnagiri district and all of the victims were from Mumbai.

Rescue operations are on.

However, the accident on the busy Mumbai-Goa highway has not affected the traffic, say reports.
