Bill Clinton says TV interview gave him indication to his heart problem

New York, Feb 19(ANI): Former US President Bill Clinton, who recently underwent a successful heart operation at New York's Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital, said he had realized that something was seriously wrong to his health prior to being hospitalised.

"I saw an interview I did with 'Nightline' in Haiti which terrified me. I looked like I was 185 years old. My color was bad," The New York Post quoted Clinton, as saying.

Clinton, who is the UN special envoy to Haiti, blamed his most recent heart problem on a lifetime of bad eating, poor stress management and lack of sleep.

"Once the Haiti earthquake happened I didn't sleep much for a month, and that probably accelerated what was already going on with this failing vein," said Clinton.

Clinton, who was hospitalised on February 11 after complaining of chest pain, was found to be serious after an electrocardiogram revealed that a region of his heart was not getting the blood it needed.

He had undergone a quadruple bypass surgery in the hospital six years ago, and one of those bypass channels was found totally blocked.

Within 90 minutes of walking into the hospital, the former President had two new stents in his heart, and the 63-year-old had dodged another scare. (ANI)
