Stop operations against Maoists: Kishenji

Stop operations against Maoists: Kishenji
Kolkata, Feb 6: Maoists leader Kishenji said on Friday, Feb 5 that they will hold talks with the Center only if it stops operation against them.

"Maoists are ready for talks but Centre will have to stop torturing and arresting people in the name of Operation Greenhunt," he said in a news agency report.

Accusing the government of torturing the tribals, Kishenji urged the Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee not to join hands with the UPA.

" In the name of arresting Maoists, the joint forces are arresting and torturing tribals in an inhuman manner. This should be stopped immediately," he said, adding that Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren too should abstain from attending the meeting with Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on February 9 in Kolkata.

"UPA government is befooling the people and (Mamata) Banerjee should stay away from UPA if she wants to serve the interests of the people," he said.

Opposing the formation of committee over Telangana, Kishenji alleged that Chidambaram was trying to put the issue on cold storage by setting up the committee .
