Indian found guilty of raping Oz lingerie model

Indian guilty of raping Oz model
Melbourne, Jan 29: An Indian national, who was slapped with charges of raping an aspiring lingerie model, was pronounced guilty on Friday, Jan 29.

The decision taken by the Downing Centre district court jury of seven women and five men reduced Sydney-based Paul Rajendran to tears, while the Judge Deborah Payne added to his pain by rejecting his bail plea.

Rajendran used a pseudonym 'James Carter' and created a fake MySpace profile to attract victims.

Claiming that he worked for the lingerie firm, La Perla, Rajendran promised the 23-year-old model a break in the fashion industry and thus managed to set up a meeting with the woman in Mar 2009, the prosecutors told the court.

He later raped the model n a nearby office block in Sydney's Central Business District, they added.
