Delhi: Heavy fog disrupts flight operations at IGI

New Delhi, Jan 27: Heavy fog continued to disrupt flight operations at the IGI airport in New Delhi on Wednesday, Jan 27.

According to airport officials, fog disrupted the schedules of over 50 domestic and international flights.

"Fog started enveloping the airport from 10 pm last night and runway visibility dropped to 50 metres," an airport official said.

21 domestic and international flights were diverted while 15 others were cancelled.

Some other flights to Chandigarh, Jaipur and Shimla were also cancelled.

Around 10 international flights arriving here were delayed. Similarly, those departing also got delayed.

According to the Met department, the dense fog is likely to dissipate after 11 am on Wednesday, Jan 27.

New Delhi, Dec 12: For the first time since the onset of winter, 30 flights were delayed in the capital due to fog early today.''The fog led to a drop in visibility levels at around 0700 Hours, leading to slight delays in nearly 30 flights,'' a spokesperson of the Airport Authority of India said.''At around 0700 hours, the visibility levels dropped to below 500 RVR (the unit used to measure visibility).
