Bhopal Lok Rang festival observes silver jubilee

Bhopal, Jan 27 (ANI): Silver Jubilee celebrations of the Lok Rang festival depicting rich art and culture is currently underway in Bhopal.

Dancers from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh and the countries like Indonesia are taking part in this five-day mega cultural extravaganza, which concludes on Sunday (January 31).

Kapil Tiwari, organiser of Lok Rang Festival said that through this festival they want to display India's unity in diversity.

"Through this festival we want to tell that that Indian culture shows unity in diversity so that the people understand this point and understand that what is the unity and diversity all about. " said Tiwari.

Mohammed Rosain, an Indonesian Dancer, said that they would represent the spirit of the people.

"It's (the dance) going to be like a wave and it's describing the spirit of the people. As you know that the wave is sometimes up and sometimes down it represents the spirit of the people."

Hira Mani, an artiste from Madhya Pradesh said that she got rave reviews once she performed the dance outside her state.

"It is a very traditional dance and this dance is performed during Diwali. When ever we perform it outside we get a very good response," said Hira Mani.

An international exhibition showcasing art and handicraft is also being held on the occasion. (ANI)

MP: Deputy Registrar of Coop jailed for bribe

Bhopal, May 22: A special court of Jabalpur has sentenced Deputy Registrar of Cooperatives Narayanlal Tandon to three years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 for taking bribe. According to official sources, Tandon was caught red-handed by the Lokayukta officials on October 2, 2000 while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 from complainant Vinod Kumar Duggal of Jabalpur. The Deputy Registrar had demanded bribe of total Rs 25,000 for the dissolution.....
