MP Govt to pay Rs 1 cr to women's hockey team
New Delhi, Jan 21: A sum of Rs 1 crore will be rewarded to the national women's hockey team by the Madhya Pradesh Government.

This move from the government comes after women team rejected Hockey India's offer.

Speaking to reporters, Sports Minster MS Gill said, "I am very happy that the Madhya Pradesh government has come forward to help the women's team."

Gill further said, "I have spoken to Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and he is eager to extend his support to women's hockey."

Earlier, women's Hockey team members were protesting in Bhopal against the non-payment of their dues for their performance in 2009.

It seems it is government of India policy to pay any dues only on long drawn out battle.Womens games and sports are no exception.Not to speak of Men's events.My thanks goes to Madhyapradesh govt who came forward to promote Hockey-Murthy
