London, Jan 22 (ANI): A cockerel in Britain is said to have been served an ASBO-type noise order after complains were made about his crowing regularly at 5am.
Colin the cockerel, owned by Stephen and Lena Barton, was reported by neighbours Philip and Sue Mabe to the council after they got fed up with his crowing.
The order has got Lena, 41, despairing as her efforts to move his coop to the far end of her land and blocking out the light until 9.30am is not working.What else can we do? We live in the country and cockerels crow and cows moo," the Sun quoted her as saying.
"It's like moving next to a railway station and complaining about the trains. It's crazy.
"I even talked to Colin about it. He just looks at me with his beady eyes," she added.
She and her hubby Stephen, 43, could face court action if they cannot hush the bird.
The mum of three said her children Imogen, 11, William, 13, and Jessica, 16, fear Colin may have to be killed and are "distraught".
Accountant Philip and his wife Sue bought the 1million pounds eight-bedroom home next to the Bartons' bungalow in the hamlet of Ramsdean, Hants, three years ago.
They lodged a complaint in September and environmental officers brought in recording and noise measuring devices before issuing an abatement notice.
"The cockerel was disturbing sleep," an East Hampshire County Council spokesman stated. (ANI)
