UP: Several feared dead in 2 train accidents

2 train accidents in UP due to fog
Kanpur, Jan 2: Low visibility due to the season's first fog in North India led to two train accidents in Uttar Pradesh.

Several people died early on Saturday, Jan 2 when a Bihar-bound Lichavi Express rammed into the stationary Delhi-Islampur Magadh Express at Saraibhopat near Etawah.

Driver of Lichavi Express is also one among the dead, say media reports. The accident has also reportedly left scores of people injured.In the second accident, Gorakhnath Express rammed into stationary Prayagraj Express at Panki in Kanpur district.

30 flights delayed due to fog in New Delhi

New Delhi, Dec 12: For the first time since the onset of winter, 30 flights were delayed in the capital due to fog early today.''The fog led to a drop in visibility levels at around 0700 Hours, leading to slight delays in nearly 30 flights,'' a spokesperson of the Airport Authority of India said.''At around 0700 hours, the visibility levels dropped to below 500 RVR (the unit used to measure visibility). As a result 30 flights were delayed......

This is in reference to accidents that we have witnessed yesterday ( Jan 2, 2010) UP region. As citizens we are entitled to know the root cause of the train accidents. Fog conditions exist in every part of the globe, leading rail companies in the world have best technology and able to prevent accidents due to fog. Why is Indian railways behind?
