18pc growth in exports after 13 months of decline

India's exports turn positive in Nov '09
New Delhi, Jan 2: India was treated with good news in the beginning of 2010 as the country's exports sector posted a growth of 18.2 per cent for the month Nov 2009.

Turning positive for the first time in 13 months, the sector rose 18.2 per cent to 13.2 billion dollars.

Exports account for a large portion in the country's GDP.

However, imports remained in the negative zone. The sector dipped by 2.6 per cent to 22.88 billion dollars, resulting in a lower trade gap of 9.69 billion dollars in Nov 2009 as opposed to 12.32 billion dollars in Nov 2008.

IT exports to Japan touch $531 million

New Delhi, May 20: India's software and services exports to Japan has touched 531 million dollars in 2005-06, leaving enough scope for increasing its share in the Japanese IT market. ''Japan is the second largest IT software and services market in the world preceded only by the US. Its domestic market stands at 91 billion dollars,'' Advisor to the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) S C Ray said in a conference......
