Ruchika's 16th death anniversary

Ruchika's 16th death anniversary
New Delhi, Dec 29: Tuesday, Dec 29, 2009, marks the 16th death anniversary of Ruchika Girjotra, who committed suicide after she was molested by former Haryana DGP SPS Rathore.

Even after all these years, Ruchika's family still continues to struggle to fight for justice for their daughter.

Rathore got away with a lighter punishment in the case as a court here sentenced him to six months in jail.

So far all that Ruchika's family has heard are promises. Yet, no real action has been taken against the accused former DGP.

Meanwhile, a condolence meeting has been called at Ruchika's home, even as the guilty police officer SPS Rathore walks free.

Over the past one week, several clues have been unearthed that seem to validate the assumption.

First a former CBI director went on record to say Rathore offered bribes to dilute the charges against him and then a police officer caught on tape admitted that the Girhotra family was harassed continuously.

But the question lies here is that why did the media keep quiet till the verdict was announced? Couldn't we have made noise well before the judgement?
