Modi wants Narayana Murthy to advise Gujarat govt

Modi wants NRN to advise Guj govt
Mumbai, Dec 27: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has invited Infosys chief mentor Narayana Murthy to come and work as an advisor for his state and help the government implement the electoral reforms initiated by him.

"I would like to invite Narayana Murthy to come to Gujarat and guide the State Government as advisor," Modi said while addressing the Jain International Trade Organisation (JITO) international conference on Saturday, Dec 26.

Appreciating Murthy's efforts to advocate larger public participation in the electoral process in a bid to accelerate economic growth, the chief minister shared his concern over low voter turnout in elections.

However, since Infosys founder's speech preceded that of the Gujarat chief minister, it is not known if he has accepted Modi's offer made on a public platform.

Last week, Modi's government shared its intentions of passing a bill that makes voting compulsory in local self-government bodies. It also supported the introduction of negative voting.
