Man travels from Medina to Jaipur in flight loo

Jaipur, Dec 27: A 26-year-old Indian, who had no passport, visa or ticket, managed to travel from Medina in Saudi Arabia to Jaipur in India by locking himself up in a toilet onboard an Air India flight.

In an incident that raises serious questions on the efficiency of airport secuirty measures, Habib Hussain escaped detection and sneaked aboard a special Haj flight operated by AI on Friday, Dec 25.

It took almost 45 minutes for the staff to detect the stowaway, say media reports.

And when Habib was questioned, he revealed that he took this step out of desperation to escape his employer who was allegedly exploiting him in Medina.

According to reports, the youth from Moradabad went to Saudi in search of a job about six months ago and was employed as a loader by an agency providing services at Medina Airport.

Habib, who went aboard for maintenance work in the Airbus A-330's loo, locked himself in there in a bid to return home.

Central Industrial Security Force, which is in charge of airport security, has reportedly filed a complaint against Hussain for entering the country illegally. This grave security lapse has brought up concerns about counter-terrorism security measures in the airports.
