Al-Qaeda tries to blow up US plane
Detroit, Dec 26: A suspected al-Qaeda operative tried to blow up a US airlines bound to Detroit from Amsterdam on Friday, Dec 25.

Abdul Mudallad, a Nigerian, who claimed of acting on the behest of the al-Qaeda, tried to set off explosives on Northwest Airlines Flight 253 with 278 passengers aboard.

The flight was 20 minutes form the airport when a explosive was set off.

According to an eyewitness, one of the two passengers who sustained burn injuries tried to restrain the al-Qaeda operative from committing the act.

FBI agents are questioning Mudallad and have started investigation into the incident suspecting it to be an attempted terrorist activity.

During the investigation, Mudallad claimed that he was working for al-Qaeda.

President Barack Obama who is on vacation with his family in Hawaii is reported to have held a conference call the security officials.

Obama has reportedly said that appropriate  measures will be taken to increase security after the incident.
