2 vessels collide in Philippines; 27 missing
Manila, Dec 24: Atleast 27 people went missing after a passenger ferry collided with a fishing boat in the Manila Bay on Thursday, Dec 24.

Coast guards spokesman Armand Balilo said that about 46 people have been rescued and all the vessels have been alerted for rescue operations.

Balilo said that cause of the incident is yet to be determined.

While the number of person in the fishing boat is unclear, the wooden-hulled ferry which was on its way to southwest Mindoro Island from Manila was carrying 73 passengers.

The fishing boat is reported to have sank shortly after the incident.

Manila, July 12: Four people were killed and 18 still missing after a boat sank off the central Philippines today, the coastguard said.Six passengers were rescued from the boat, which capsized at around 0300 [0030 IST] off Quezon province, Lieutenant Armand Balilo said. The reason for the sinking was not clear.Separately, a passenger ferry ran aground off the southern Philippine island of Mindanao today. All passengers were rescued, Balilo said.Ferries of all descriptions ply the waters.....
