New Delhi, Dec 21: Former Haryana DGP S P S Rathore has been reportedly awarded with just a six months imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1000 in connection with the molestation of 14-year-old Ruchika Girhotra.

The judgment comes 19 years after the incident took place in Aug 1990, when the DGP molested the 14-year-old budding sportsperson in his office-cum-residence.

On Dec 16, the court of CBI Magistrate JS Sidhu adjourned final verdict in the molestation case till Dec 21.

It has been over nine years since the Central Bureau of Investigation filed the chargesheet in the case.

The case was pursued by Ruchika's friend Reemu, who was an eyewitness to the incident. The complaint was also filed by Reemu's father, Anand Prakash as the victim's family fled the state fearing persecution.

Jul 2002: Rathore retires

Nov 2009: Case transferred from Ambala court to CBI, Chandigarh

Dec 11, 2009: Court closes all final arguments and sets the date for verdict

Dec 15, 2009: Final hearing adjourned till Dec 21

Dec 21, 2009: Rathore sentenced to 6 months imprisonment and slapped with fine of Rs 1000
