Washington Mayor signs gay marriage bill

Washington, Dec 19: Gay marriage bill was signed by Washington Mayor Adrian M. Fenty on Friday, Dec 18.

However the bill legalizing gay marriage will not come into affect immediately as it has to pass 30 days of Congressional review.

The Congress is the only authority to decide over DC's laws.

Supporters hope that Congress will have no objection, so that gay couples can get married as early as March.

New Delhi, Jun 27: Taking a big step forward that may leave the gay right activists of the country relieved, the Home Ministry is reportedly in favour of repealing Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) which bans homosexuality.Home Minister Chidambaram, has called Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, Law Minister Veerappa Moily and state Home Ministers for a meeting to discuss the issue.Earlier, the Home Ministry had argued before the High Court.....

New Delhi, Jun 28: The official sources on Sunday, Jun 28 said that the Centre is repealing a controversial section of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) which bans homosexuality.
