Cyclonic storm to cross TN coast on Dec 15 night

Chennai, Dec 15: The cyclonic storm 'Ward' is likely to cross Tamil Nadu coast between Kaniyakumari and Nagapattinam districts Tuesday, Dec 15 night and is expected to bring down heavy rains.

"The depression which currently lies over Sri Lanka, is likely to move west direction and cross Tamil Nadu coast between Kaniyakumari and Nagapatinam district tonight," Met officials said.

Tamil Nadu and Puducherry region is expected to see heavy rains during the next 24 hours beginning 8:30 am Tuesday, Dec 15, the officials informed.

Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea.

Aizawl, Jun 4: Monsoon rains, since last five days, have disrupted surface communication across Mizoram followed by minor to major landslides in the past 24 hours.The worst hit capital city has experienced as many as 15 landslides, including two major one, in different localaties following non-stop rain.The roads in the state capital were blocked due to the landslides, apart from posing danger to the dwellings. Amarnath pilgrimage suspended for second day

Srinagar, June 12 : The Amarnath pilgrimage continued to remain suspended from both Baltal and Pahalgam routes for the second day today due to heavy snowfall and incessant rains at several places along the track to the holy cave shrine, leaving thousands of devotees stranded enroute, officials said.They said while 18 inches of snow was recorded at Mahagunas, six inches of snowfall was received at the holy cave shrine, making it extremely difficult for the pilgrims to undertake the holy journey.....
