Cyclonic storm to bring heavy rains to TN

Chennai, Dec 12: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has alerted Tamil Nadu and Puducherry of a cyclonic storm 'Ward' over the Bay of Bengal which could result in heavy rainfall in the coming 48 hours.

A bulletin issued by the Met office on Friday, Dec 11 night said, "The system is likely to move in a north-westerly direction towards Tamil Nadu coast during next 48 hours."

Starting from Saturday, Dec 12, coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry may experience 'heavy' to 'very heavy' showers.

Warning of a rough sea, the Met department has also asked the fishermen to not venture into the sea.
