H1N1 claims 9 more lives, India's toll to 675

New Delhi, Dec 11: Nine more Swine Flu deaths were reported in India on Thursday, Dec 10, taking the toll due to the deadly virus to 675, health authorities said.

A record 339 fresh cases were reported in the country, taking the number of people infected with the flu to 20,929.

Five deaths were reported from Rajasthan, the toll in the state has gone up to 86.

Apart from Rajasthan, two deaths were also reported from Maharashtra, one death each was reported from Delhi and Uttarakhand.

Anjana Prakash, the state's assistant nodal officer for swine flu, said, "The capital reported 170 new cases of Influenza A (H1N1) Thursday Dec 10. Of the 170 new cases, 94 were children."

With this, the total number of swine flu cases in Delhi touched 6,769 - the highest in the country.

Fresh cases were reported from Rajasthan (73), Maharashtra (28),Uttar Pradesh (21), Haryana (13), Gujarat (13) and Tamil Nadu (12).
