Tiger Woods' sports drink taken off shelves

Washington, December 9 (ANI): A sports drink endorsed by Tiger Woods has been discontinued by its maker Gatorade as new reports of the ace golfer's alleged extra-marital affairs continue to unveil.

The company said in an official statement that the decision to take the Gatorade Tiger Focus off the shelves was taken "months ago" and has no relation to the recent controversy surrounding the billionaire sportsman.

"We decided several months ago to discontinue Gatorade Tiger Focus along with some other products to make room for our planned series of innovative products in 2010. We hope to share more about our 2010 plans soon," Fox News quoted Gatorade as saying.

Woods landed in controversy after smashing his car outside his Florida home on Thanksgiving, seconds after reportedly having a heated argument with wife Elin Nordegren over his alleged affair with New York socialite Rachel Uchitel.

Both Woods and Uchitel have denied the reports but since then as many as eleven women were said to have stepped forward with claims of romancing the star.

The 33-year-old apologised for letting his family down with "transgressions", promising to "strive to be a better person, and the husband and father that my family deserves."

Gatorade Tiger Focus is the first of Woods' endorsements to end since the scandal began. (ANI)
