Capello told to look to Newcastle to solve England's keeper problems

London, Dec.9 (ANI): England football coach Fabio Capello has been advised to take a look at Newcastle United keeper Steve Harper to solve his keeper crisis.

If David James fails to regain full fitness ahead of South Africa, Robert Green would be the likely No.1 and Ben Foster, who is currently Manchester United's No.3 is in Capello's squad.

Harper is one of only a handful of reliable, fit English keepers and although playing outside the Premier League will count against him he has a big fan in boss Chris Hughton.

Hughton said: "It is the England manager's prerogative to look at all English keepers. He has to pick who he wants but if I look at Steve Harper's performances for us, I don't think there are so many better than him. Steve is proving what a good keeper he is. He has shown is that we are a team that is four points clear of second spot and ten points clear of third but what we have still needed is quality saves at vital times. Without him, we might not have that."

"He is a goalkeeper that has matured, and I think he is at his prime at this particular moment, and the types of saves he is making are not easy ones," The Mirror quoted him, as saying further. (ANI)

Beckham to get his 100th England cap

London, Mar 6 : Fabio Capello has hinted that David Beckham may get his 100th England cap this year against France if he is fit and in form, and added that he was even prepared to fly to America to watch the former captain in action. Capello made the admission at a forum with England fans, who pressed him on Beckham's international future.
