Speaker calls meeting over MPs' housing woes

New Delhi, Dec 2: With more than 50 newly-elected MPs unable to get possession of their allotted houses, Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar has called a joint meeting to solve the issue.

The Speaker has called for a joint meeting of the urban development minister and housing committee Chairman.

Speaking to reporters, Lok Sabha Housing Committee Chairman JP Aggarwal said, Yes, I was called by the Speaker as she is concerned about the MPs not being able to move to their allotted houses."

Aggarwal said the Housing Committee has allotted houses to all MPs.

"The allotment process is complete as the committee has issued allotment orders to all newly-elected MPs. But the problem is that many ex-MPs have not yet vacated their houses," he added.
