IAF grounds entire Sukhoi fleet for safety checks
New Delhi, Dec 1: The Indian Air Force on Wednesday, Dec 2, grounded its entire Sukhoi fleet for precautionary checks after one of its fighter jets crashed on Monday, Nov 30.

The IAF has decided to carry out precautionary checks on all the jets before letting them fly again.

The crash near Pokhran happened during a fire power exercise.

Preliminary indications suggest the jet crashed due to a technical defect. The two pilots on board managed to eject in time.

The IAF has sought the help of Russia and Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) to investigate the crash.

It was the second time a Sukhoi 30 fighter aircraft crashed in India.

Earlier, on Apr 30, one of the jets had crashed due to a failure of the fly-by-wire system. India has 105 Sukhoi fighters in its fleet.
