Woods says he spent Melbourne nights watching NFL

London, Dec. 1 (ANI): Golfing legend Tiger Woods has clarified that he spent his nights in Australia watching the NFL, and not partying with New York nightclub hostess Rachel Uchitel, as has been rumoured.

"It was good to be able to follow the NFL while I was in Melbourne. I enjoyed being there. I was made to feel very welcome and it was nice to win for the first time in Australia. It would be great if it helps get more people into golf," The Daily Telegraph quoted Woods, as saying.

Wood's life took a spectacular turn when his black SUV mysteriously ran off the road in the middle of the night, near his Florida home.

Meanwhile, breaking his three-day silence over the bizarre low-speed crash, Woods said he was to blame and his wife Elin Nordegren the hero.

"The only person responsible for the accident is me. My wife, Elin, acted courageously when she saw I was hurt and in trouble. She was the first person to help me. Any other assertion is absolutely false," he said.

However, he failed to properly explain the events that left him bloody, dazed and unconscious with his wife hovering around him with a golf club.

"This situation is my fault, and it's obviously embarrassing to my family and me. I'm human and I'm not perfect. I will certainly make sure this doesn't happen again," he said.

Woods, 33, lashed out at claims he was fighting with his wife over reports he had hooked up with Uchitel in Melbourne.

"This is a private matter and I want to keep it that way. Although I understand there is curiosity, the many false, unfounded and malicious rumours that are currently circulating are irresponsible," Woods said.

Uchitel, 34, has admitted to staying at Crown in the same week as Woods, but claimed that she was there on business with a boyfriend. (ANI)
