Vintage and classic cars roll down Lucknow streets

Lucknow, Dec 1 (ANI): For car lovers, it was a day out, when vintage and classic beauties rolled down the streets of Lucknow as a part of rally on Monday.

Organized as a part of the 'Lucknow Mahotsav', the rally was sponsored by the state-run Hindustan Petroleum.

Some 70 cars participated in the rally, which included a 1936 Baby Austin, Hindustan, Plymouth CR, Austin Somerset, German Ford and many others.

The organizers said they got an enthusiastic response from the participants and that it is very difficult to keep the vintage and classic alive for so long.

"The vintage cars have so many things that can be put to use in the present day, like the quality and the materials used in the making. If we put aside the fuel efficiency of the cars, which is very low, the cars can be utilized in a better way," said Rohit Prasad, organizer of the rally.

For vintage car aficionados, it was a trip down memory lane.

Ranaq Ali, who owns around four Baby Austins said that it took him three years to restore the car that he drove in the rally.

Elated participants said vintage cars have their own elegance and beauty that can't be replaced by any new model.

The rally provided a glimpse of the best collections of a bygone era , leaving the audience spellbound. (ANI)
