Mechanical fault forces Rudd's plane back to US
Melbourne, Dec 1: Prime Minister Kevin Rudd's fight was forced to turn back to US due to a minor mechanical fault, media reports said on Tuesday, Dec 1.

"Rudd will be staying overnight in the US capital and his return to Australia has been delayed," Rudd's spokesman was quoted by media as saying.

"Obama may visit Australia in 2010, possibly combining his trip with a visit to Indonesia, where he spent part of his childhood," Rudd said.

"We had a chat at the end of our conversation about his desire to visit Down Under," Rudd said adding "I told him he was always welcome and we are looking at the possibility of him visiting Australia in the course of 2010. That would be terrific," he said.

"I am sure all Australians would make the President and Michelle and the family, if he chooses to bring them, very welcome," Rudd added.
