New Delhi, Nov 30: The man, who made a hoax call claiming that there was a bomb threat to a Hyderabad-bound Indigo flight at the IGI airport, was arrested on Monday, Nov 30.

DCP (IGI, Airport) KC Trivedi said that a 20-year-old man identified as Mubarak has been arrested from Bhagirath Vihar area in East Delhi in connection with the hoax call made to IndiGo call centre late on Sunday, Nov 29, informing that there was ammunition on the plane.

After receiving the call, the authorities evacuated plane carrying 164 passengers and carried out security checks on the plane which was grounded for hours.

"We received a call at our call centre informing us of a security threat on our flight 6E 307 DEL-HYD departing at 2055. All 164 passengers are safe," said a spokesperson of the airline.

According to a CISF official said, the call was made to delay the flight by few hours. It was learnt that Mubarak is the relative of one of the three passengers, identified as Ruzwan Malik, who reported late for the flight.

CISF personnel provided the Delhi police with the number of the PCO in Yamuna Vihar from where Mubarak allegedly called the Indigo call centre, claiming there were explosives and weapons on board the plane.

With this lead, the police was able to make the arrest.
