New Delhi, Nov 30: Common Wealth Games (CWG) project has landed in trouble again. Almost 20 hoteliers have opted out of the CW hotel project after failing to complete even 30 percent of the work.

The tourism ministry status report presents a tardy progress in the construction of 40,000 rooms for the Games as 20 hoteliers who have bagged the project are yet to complete even 30 percent of the work.

The DDA had auctioned 33 hotel plots to hoteliers but it has come to the forefront that most of them are showing a dismal progress in the completion of their work.

"For example, Amar Hospitality which was to construct a 512-room hotel in Shahadara, is moving at a snail's pace and there are not much activity on the ground. For us, they have opted out of the Games project," the official said.

Asrani Inns, Amar Hospitality, Anush, IFCI Ltd, Sewa Hotel, Brilliant, Breaze Constructions are among the companies which have been placed in the doubtful category and have been reported to have almost stopped the work.

The completion of work before CWG has always been of major concern. With this new development, doubts on the timely completion of work could once again spring up.
