Lanka cricket team's chief security advisor seeks commando cover for players during ODI series

Bhubaneswar, Nov 25 (ANI): The chief security officer of the Sri Lanka cricket team, Laurence Fernando, met Bhubaneswar Police Commissioner B.K Sharma here on Tuesday and demanded a commando cover for his players when they arrive to play the third ODI against hosts India on December 21 in Cuttack.

Fernando expressed satisfaction over his discussion with Sharma regarding security.

"We have agreed on the plans and I have confidence in him and his officers and the cricket association officials that these plans would be put into practise, and I am sure that the public will co-operate with that. We should be able to have an incident free match," he said.

Sharma said that commandos would be pressed into duty for better security of the Sri Lankan cricket team.

"After the incident in Pakistan, the Sri Lankan officials have become extra particular about the security of their t team. Keeping this, we have made more security arrangements in comparison to what we used to make earlier," Sharma added.

Rajkot, Visakhapatnam, Cuttack, Kolkata and Delhi will host the other ODI matches. (ANI)
