JNU violence: Court rejects bail plea of accused

JNU violence: Court rejects bail plea of accused
New Delhi: The bail plea of four of the accused in JNU violence case has been rejected by Delhi Court on the grounds that police probe against the case is still going on.

Earlier the four accused Nitin Kapoor, Gagan Kumar, Ankit Nanda and Amit Chauhan sought bail citing that outrage of modesty was bailable offence.

Nitin Kapoor's consel, Sulaiman Mohd Khan had moved that court on Nov 23 stating that arresting Kapoor would not be justified as it was his first offence and he had no criminal record.

Senior advocate Ramesh Gupta along with consel Sulaiman Mohd Khan argued during the bail plea hearing the charge of outraging the modesty of a woman is a bailable offence adding that the case of tresspassing does not hold ground as the accused had not entered any classroom or hostel.

However the prosecutors opposed the plea saying that the police probe is still in the initial stage and they are yet to record their versions.
