HIV/AIDS affected get own social networking site

Bangalore, Nov 25: The United Nations Joint Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) launched a social networking site exclusively for the people affected by HIV/AIDS to help them connect with other people affected by the disease across the world.

The new social networking site - AIDSspace.org launched to help over 33.4 million people affected by the HIV and AIDS is not only a potent platform for the users to share information and idea, but will also help them find and post jobs and reviews on service providers.

The website features a complete collection of all possible resources that the users require.

It includes a directory- to help connect with people and organizations working on HIV, a library - to share documents and resources and discover what's new, marketplace- to access jobs, discussions, events, and more.

"AIDSspace.org is wholly dedicated to the global AIDS community. If hundreds of millions of people can socialise on some of the most popular social networking sites like Facebook, LinkedIn, MySpace, Twitter, YouTube, Orkut and Netlog then why not people who are living with HIV and AIDS," an official with UNAIDS said.

"It will help the global HIV and AIDS community to socialise, chat, exchange ideas, post and share HIV-related content including key policies, case studies, multimedia materials, conference, posters, reports and other essential resources," he added.

US provides $30 mn aid to India for HIV/AIDS control

New Delhi, Jan 11: The United States has committed 30 million dollars as President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) to support India's response for HIV/AIDS. Of this, seven million dollars would come through the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). According to an HHS-India fact sheet, the Department committed nearly 30 million dollars to US-India collaborations through many of its agencies, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Food.....
