England batters Morgan, Trott chase IPL riches

Cape Town (South Africa), Nov.25 (ANI): Eoin Morgan and Jonathan Trott are expected to head the next group of England players chasing the potential riches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2010.

According to The Times, the two batsmen are the brightest sparks to emerge in the one-day side this year and it is understood that contact has been made already between franchises and representatives of the pair.

Middlesex and Warwickshire are aware that their players are keen to join the world's leading lights for the third version of the Twenty20 competition that has transformed the game.

The IPL 2010 auction will take place in Mumbai on January 19, with each of the franchises allowed to spend up to 750,000 dollars in total on new players.Alternatively, players can be signed outside the auction subject to the overall wage cap.

The coming wave of contracts is likely to be for a single year, with the present plan to put all the players up for auction again in 2011, when the event is to be expanded from eight to ten teams.

England players, centrally contracted or not, may find themselves restricted to only three weeks in the IPL, which will run from March 12 to April 25, because of a clash of dates with the tour to Bangladesh. (ANI)
