'Unimpressed' PCB may sack ageing Alam after Kiwi tour

Islamabad, Nov.24 (ANI): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is not impressed by the team's lack lustre performance in the recent past, and is thinking about sacking coach Intikhab Alam, sources privy to the team have revealed.

According to them, the New Zealand tour could be Alam's last assignment as the coach of the national team.

Moreover, the board is of the view that the team needs a younger and energetic coach.

"Intikhab's position is under immense pressure due to some dismal performances in Sri Lanka and Abu Dhabi especially from the batsman. Several former Pakistan players are being lined up as an alternative to him," PakPassion.net quoted sources, as saying.

Reports suggested that the Pakistan team could well have a new 'younger' coach during the forthcoming Australian tour.

"The Board is not satisfied with the performances of the batting line up and the coach is being held responsible for the poor displays from the majority of the batsmen. It could be time for a change and a younger coach to be installed in time for the Australia series," sources added.

Alam's, 68, role as a coach has come under severe scrutiny following the Pakistani batsmen's' poor show in tournaments in the recent past. (ANI)
