New Delhi, Nov 24: Following the allegations that the Congress intentionally 'leaked' selective details of the Liberhan Comission report on the 1992 Babri Masjid demolition, the government is likely to table the report along with the Action Taken Report (ATR) on Tuesday, Nov 24, say media reports.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh who is currently in the United States is learnt to have called up the Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee reportedly asking him to convene a Cabinet meeting to clear the report and the ATR.
Media reports quoting sources say that this decision was taken after long-drawn negotiations within the government and the Congress with senior Ministers consulting party president and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi. On Monday, Nov 23, the Babri Masjid demolition issue resurfaced after a newspaper published details of the Liberhan Commission of Inquiry report. The Indian Express claimed that the commission had indicted top Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders like LK Advani.
This expose created ruckus in the Parliament with the BJP throwing scathing accusations against the Congress-led government. Left front and the Samajwadi Party also joined in the uproar questioning the breach of parliamentary privilege and delay in action on a report and demanded for immediate tabling of the report.
