India's Agni-II missile fails to clear night trial
New Delhi, Nov 24: India's nuclear-capable intermediate range Agni-II missile failed to get the desired results when being test-fired for the first time after sunset.

The nuclear capable missile was test-fired on Monday night, Nov 23, from the Wheeler Island off Orissa coast around 7.50 pm.

Agni-II is a two-stage solid propelled ballistic missile and is 20-meter long. The launch weight of the missile is 17 tonnes. It is capable of carrying a pay load of 1,000 kg over a distance of 2,000 km.

According to DRDO sources, the liftoff and the first stage separation was smooth. But it faltered just before the second stage separation and behaved erratically, deviating from its coordinated path.
