Rly exams in regional languages simultaneously

Railway exams in all regional laguages
Mumbai, Nov 23: While flagging off new train services, Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday, Nov 21 announced that the Railway exams will be held in regional languages simultaneously.

"The railway exams will be conducted in regional languages simultaneously apart from English and Hindi. In Maharashtra, the exams will be held in Marathi and in other states, these will be held in local languages," she informed.

"The decision was taken after a review was carried out and a new policy was formulated," the minister added.

This comes after Maharashtra Chief Minister, Ashok Chavan recently said, "Locals must be given importance. Whoever is a domicile of Maharashtra must first get an employment opportunity irrespective of the language the people of Maharashtra speak or the belief they follow."

This move also becomes especially important in the view of the incidents in the past when Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) attacked candidates from North India appearing in railway exams in Maharashtra.
