Mumbai, Nov 23: Mumbai Police Commissioner D Sivanandan on Monday, Nov 23, rubbished reports of a war within the Mumbai police.
Speaking to reporters here, Sivanandan said, "There is no war within the Mumbai police. This has to be checked whether anybody said anything during the operations. The government is doing exactly that. We are not responding to anybody's comment as of now."
Earlier, former Mumbai police commissioner Hassan Gafoor had reportedly accused four senior officers had indulged in dereliction of duty during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.
The four senior officers include Parambir Singh then the additional CP, ATS; KL Prasad then joint CP Law and Order; additional CP Crime Branch Deven Bharti; and K Venkateshan, then additional CP, South.
He alleged that they refused to be on ground and take on the terrorists.
"By doing so they chose to ignore the need of the hour," Gafoor had said in an interview.
When asked whether he did notice unwillingness among some of his senior officers (to get out on the streets), Gafoor replied, "Yes, there was dearth of eagerness on the part of a handful of senior officers to be on the ground during those days."
