Manipur: Five Assam Rifles troopers killed
Imphal, Nov 23: Five paramilitary troopers, including a major and a captain, were killed in an ambush by Suspected United National Liberation Front (UNLF) militants on Monday, Nov 23 in Chandel district, police officials said.

Police officials said that the personnel of 43 Assam Rifles were patrolling the area when suspected militants of UNLF laid an ambush on the troops and in the ensuing encounter, five of the security personnel lost their lives.

The troops tried to call in reinforcements and went after the militants.

However, the militants managed to escape. Additional forces have been flown into the area as the spot is in a border area and difficult terrain, sources said.

According to sources, it is suspected that the UNLF might have carried out the attack as its 45th foundation day on Nov 24.

Assam Company commences oil delivery from Amguri field

New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) Assam Company Ltd (ACL) has begun delivery of oil from its operated field in Amguri to Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) refinery in Guwahati, Assam, about 115 km away. The oil is being sold at the same price as a basket of crude oils with similar characteristics traded in the international market, a company release here said. The oil produced from Amguri is first trucked to Oil India Ltd (OIL) facility at Moran.....
