Jharkhand women self-help groups display their products at IITF

New Delhi, Nov 23 (ANI): Women self-help groups from remote areas of Jharkhand displayed products with traditional Kantha Art at the ongoing India International Trade Fair (IITF) here.

They are being trained with the help of JHARCRAFT; a Jharkhand Government undertaking. It is an initiative of the Jharkhand Silk Textile and Handicraft Development Corporation Ltd.

Ashwini, regional manager, JHARCRAFT, said that 5000 women from various parts of Jharkhand were being trained.

"We have trained 5000 women from various parts of Jharkhand in Kantha Art and Zardosi from N.I.F.T. Kolkata. With the help of this they can earn their daily bread and butter and Improve our production too," said Ashwini.

The visitors said the fair depicted unique and diverse cultures of various regions at a single spacious venue.

Noorjahan, a weaver, said she was feeling good, as everyone visiting the Jharkhand pavilion was keen on learning and picking up these products.

The 29th edition of the IITF was opened for the general public on Thursday.

The fortnight-long fair is organised annually by the Indian Trade Promotion Organisation and provides a platform for trade promotion and helps facilitate interaction between national and international buyers. (ANI)

'Centre to set up 15 MT power plant in J'khand'

Ranchi, Jul 21: Steel Minister Ramvilas Paswan today said the Centre was ready to set up a steel plant having a capacity of 15 million tonnes in Jharkhand if the state government ensures to provide two out of three billion tonnes of iron ore produced by Chiria mines. Talking to reporters at the Birsa Munda airport here, Mr Pawswan said the plant would be set up as per state government's choice as soon as the matter.....
