Nalbari, Nov 23: The death toll in the twin blasts in Assam's Nalbari town has been put up to eight as one more person succumbed to injuries. Meanwhile, the 12-hour bandh imposed in the town has crippled normal life.
Private and public transport remained off the road while markets, educational institutions and other commercial establishments also remained closed on Monday, Nov 23, after twin blasts rocked Nalbari town, which is about 70 km west of Guwahati, in a span of 40 minutes on Sunday, Nov 22 morning.
A police spokesperson has revealed that an injured victim died at a hospital late on Sunday, Nov 22 night. With this death the toll rose to eight. Four people out of the 54 injured in the blasts are reportedly in critical condition.
Officials have also informed that the security forces have stepped up their anti-insurgency operations across the state.
While the police along with the Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi claim that the explosions were the handiwork of the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA), the group has denied carrying out the attacks.
