US wants India and Pak to resume dialogue

US wants India & Pak to resume dialogue
Washington, Nov 20: Speaking to BBC in an interview, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton once again spoke on importance of resumption of dialogue between India and Pakistan, which ceased after the 26/11 Mumbai Terror Attacks.

“We are encouraging them (India and Pakistan) to get back into dialogue. We think that (dialogue) is important. But with respect to any resolution, that's up to them," the transcripts of the BBC interview released by the State Department quotes Ms Clinton as saying.

Responding to question on the Kashmir issue which continues to hurt the bilateral ties between the two nations, Clinton said, “Well, we have encouraged both countries to resume a dialogue that they were engaged in which came to a halt and yet holds a lot of promise. They had made progress, I am told, in sorting through some of the longstanding difficulties they face, and most particularly the status of Kashmir."

She went on to assert that solution has to come from the countries themselves and not from outside.
