Washington, Nov 17: A banned Obama-Mao t-shirt resulted in the two-hour detention of a CNN correspondent in Shanghai.
Emily Chang, a Beijing CNN correspondent was detained for two hours for flashing the Obama t-shirt on camera in Shanghai market, which was banned in China considering that the t-shirt may offend the America President who is on his first visit to China.
"Two security guards happened to pass by at the moment I announced to the camera: 'This is the T-shirt everybody is talking about. And that was it. They scrambled towards us and tried to pry the shirt out of my hands," Chang said in a blog.
Chang said that the security guards asked for their press cards, passports and most importantly the t-shirt before finally letting them go.
The t-shirt shows Obama in red military uniform staring in the distance like the famous pose of the Chinese leader.
While 'Serve the People' in Chinese is written on the front of the t-shirt, "Oba-Mao" is written at the back in English.
